Fly the Flag – 10 November 2021
10 September is World Suicide Prevention Day. It’s an opportunity for people in New Zealand and worldwide to raise awareness of suicide and suicide prevention. MATES in Construction has moved its annual Fly the Flag campaign to get behind suicide prevention from 10 September to 10 November due to the recent lockdown that continues to affect our mates in Auckland. The construction industry has the highest rate of suicide when compared to all other industries in New Zealand – we lose on average one mate a week. The conversation around mental health and suicide prevention for those working in construction is more important than ever, so get behind the cause and Fly your Flag on 10 November to show your support.
“The MATES flags are a reminder to stop and take a moment to be a mate who will look out for a mate. To take 10 seconds of courage to say, Hey mate, are you OK?”.
Get your workplace or site involved and register an event or order a flag today – stock is limited. This year even the Auckland Harbour Bridge will be lighting up for Fly the Flag!
