The first half of 2026 has been busy for the Trigg team, with several exciting projects progressing on site and a strong pipeline of new work preparing to get underway. From healthcare and commercial developments to industrial facilities and community projects, we’re proud to be working alongside our clients to deliver quality outcomes across Northland. Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve been working on and what’s coming up next.
Mangawhai Medical Centre
Construction is progressing well on Mangawhai’s new Medical Centre, with the project on track for completion in mid-2027. With the site now fully established and the ground floor concrete complete, structural steel is beginning to go up as the building moves into the next phase of construction. Led by Project Manager Chris Davenport, Construction Manager Shayne Stephens, Commercial Manager Aidan Jones, and Health & Safety Manager Leone Woodcock the team has maintained strong momentum through close collaboration with the client, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors. A key focus throughout this project has been supporting local businesses wherever possible – always a consideration for us. By working with local suppliers and trades, and bringing additional labour into the project to boost the Trigg carpentry team when required, we’re helping keep investment within the community while maintaining programme and cost controls.
La Nonna Commercial Hub
The La Nonna Commercial Hub is nearing completion, with our team handing over the project mid-July. Led by Site Manager Alan Miller, Project Manager Brogan Clark, Commercial Manager Aidan Jones and Health & Safety Manager Leone Woodcock, the team has worked hard to deliver a high-quality commercial development for client Ilia Petro. It has been a pleasure partnering with Ilia throughout the project, and we’re proud of the standard of workmanship achieved. Following completion of the build, Ilia is now seeking a tenant for the 1,000m² commercial space, ideally suited to a business looking for a high-profile location on State Highway 1 with excellent accessibility.
Tarewa Mega Centre Re-Roof
Keeping businesses operating while replacing an entire roof is no small challenge—but that’s exactly what our team has been delivering at Tarewa Mega Centre in Whangārei. The project involves replacing internal gutters, installing a new roofing system over the existing roof and structure, and completing extensive flashing and parapet works across the building. Led by Project Manager Brogan Clark and Commercial Manager David Pook, the team has worked closely with client RPM Property to carefully plan the works around existing tenants, ensuring businesses including Supercheap Auto, Lighting Direct, Reduced to Clear and Bed Bath & Beyond could continue trading throughout construction. With the main roofing works nearing completion, we’re now supporting RPM with remedial works to the adjacent Spotlight building.
Coming Up Next
While we continue delivering current projects, our team is also preparing for an exciting pipeline of new work across Northland. Many of these projects have been developed using an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) approach—working collaboratively with clients and design teams from the beginning to improve buildability, manage costs, reduce risk and maximise long-term value. For us, ECI is about partnering with clients early to make better decisions together.
The Doctors Tikipunga Re-Roof
A carefully planned refurbishment project is about to begin at The Doctors Tikipunga. Starting next month, the works will involve re-pitching the existing roof, completing a full re-roof, and repainting the building. The key challenge will be ensuring The Doctors can continue providing essential healthcare services to patients throughout construction. Careful planning and communication will be critical to delivering the project safely while minimising disruption.
Ruakaka Catholic Church
Trigg is proud to be partnering with the Ruakaka Catholic community to deliver a new place of worship for the growing local population. This project has been a great example of the value of Early Contractor Involvement. Working closely with the client committee, several design options have been explored, costed and refined to ensure the final solution meets both the project vision and budget. The preliminary design has now been submitted for consent, with construction expected to begin in approximately two months at the Peter Snell Road site.
Commercial Manufacturing Base
After 18 months of collaboration, this exciting industrial project is moving closer to construction. Trigg has worked closely with the client to secure land and develop the design for a new 1,800m² manufacturing facility in the Marsden Point area. With the site secured and budget set, the team is now working alongside the client and design consultants to bring the design to life, resolve potential issues early and ensure the project is ready for a smooth construction phase with no major variations due to “unforeseen issues”. We expect work to begin on site within the next three to four months to start on this exciting build.
Commercial Office Building
Planning is underway for a new 900m² commercial office development at Marsden Point. Darrell, David and the team have been working with the client and design team to develop a preliminary design for a simple cost-effective build solution that considers not only construction, but also the long-term performance and lifecycle costs of the property. With the budget now finalised, the project is expected to commence on site in the final quarter of 2026.
Architectural Timber Profiles
Through our partnership with the New Zealand Construction Alliance (NZCA), we’re helping transform the former Obelisk Engineering site at Marsden Point into a new timber manufacturing operation. The Trigg team has been working with the client to clean up and prepare the existing site and building for a new timber profile machining and coating facility. Plans for a new office, showroom and additional spaces are currently progressing through the consent process, with the next stage of works expected to begin in spring.
